Malta Island, June 10th, 2004.

The second trench was completed without finding any traces of wood.

Nevertheless we start to find small round pebbles in the strata between the mobile sand and the dense layer underneath. These stones are not local and may well be from the wreck. We also found some ferrous concretions that are probably nails. We lan to take some x-rays to confirm their contents.

Un plongeur a trouvé une concrétion de clou de charpente.

We start a third trench 8 metres from the last one. The dredges are moved and we work hard to discover the wreck. In the evening we are pleasantly suprised by the arrival of Martine Scialliano whose sojourn on the island was delayed by ill health.
